Job Description:
To study Kaposi’s sarcoma associated herpesvirus (KSHV/HHV-8) interactions with host cell receptors (integrins, xCT, DC-SIGN,heparin sulfate)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As part of a group of scholars studying Kaposi’s sarcoma associated herpesvirus (KSHV), conduct independent research projects which contribute to the group’s studies.
Unsupervised planning, execution, data collection, analyses and preparation of manuscripts are expected.
Conduct the following specific research projects independently.
* Study the role of cell surface receptors for KSHV entry and infection.
* Study the role of receptor mediated signal pathway in KSHV entry and infection.
Required Education & Experience:
Ph.D. degree in virology, microbiology, molecule biology, or related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
One to three years laboratory bench experience in the following areas: herpes viruses or other human/animal viruses and molecular biological techniques such as DNA and RNA preparations, DNA and cDNA cloning, DNA-polymerase chain reactions, reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction, real-time PCR, eukaryotic gene expression, transfection procedures, signal pathways, protein purification, immunoprecipitation , immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, tissue culture, virus growth and purification.
Good English reading and writing skills.
Salary range : as per NIH guidelines based on years of experience : 36,000K/anum (fresh Ph.D) onwards.
